Morgan State University
Morgan State University is located in a residential area of northeastern Baltimore. Founded in 1867 as a private institution, it became a public institution in 1939 and a doctoral-granting university in 1975. The campus occupies more than 160 acres and consists of nearly 50 buildings including modern residence halls housing approximately 3,000 students. Throughout its history, Morgan has been a comprehensive institution emphasizing the arts and sciences and a strong general education in all programs of study, a tradition that continues today. The University offers a wide variety of academic programs at the undergraduate level, including professional programs in engineering, business and management, architecture, and teacher education. At the doctoral level, the campus offers more than a dozen programs in a variety of fields.
