Addictions Program Description
To address the changes in requirements in licensure for Addictions Counselors in Maryland, Allegany College of Maryland is proposing a new certificate in Addictions. When combined with other requirements of the Maryland State Addictions Licensing Board, these courses will meet the required addictions specific courses for the Maryland Addictions Counselor Certification. The Certificate coursework is also open to anyone who would like to enhance their resume, career portfolio, or individuals with an interest in addictions without the need for State certification.

The Lower Division Certificate will address the workforce needs of the community and the certification/licensure needs of graduates. The proposed certificate program is directly correlated with the College’s Human Services Program. In alignment with this established program, Allegany is seeking Health Manpower Designation.
