Geospatial Intelligence Program Description
The University of Maryland, College Park is proposing a new Master of Science (M.S.) in Geospatial Intelligence. The field of geospatial intelligence was initially associated with national security, but now there is a need in a variety of areas, including machine intelligence, business intelligence, criminology, government, and emergency management. The proposed program exists already as an iteration of UMD’s Master of Professional Studies program; this is a request to create a&nbsp; stand‐alone M.S. program to succeed the current Professional Studies program iteration. <br> <br>The program will provide workforce‐focused training in cutting‐edge topics in geospatial intelligence, geographic information science, remote sensing, and data science in the big data era. Additionally, the program will provide skills and expertise to graduates to lead new initiatives in the rapidly shifting landscape of defense and security applications. Students in the program will have the opportunity to enroll in either on-campus or distance learning modalities <br>
