Physical Therapist Assistant Program Description
The proposed Physical Therapist Assistant, Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to prepare a globally skilled workforce of PTAs competent in performing selected physical therapy services under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist and who will become life-long learners who are productive and highly engaged members of the healthcare community. This career pathway will create a pipeline that will lead to a rewarding healthcare career in rehabilitation and wellness and ensures the increased demand for physical therapy among the aging populations is met. An additional intent is to align this program with Frederick County Public Schools&#39; newly developed Physical Rehabilitation program that will increase dual enrollment and articulated credit options for high school students. <br> <br>FCC&#39;s proposed Physical Therapist Assistant program will provide a transformational model of program implementation. This includes: curricular development and alignment, marketing, providing internships, and identifying and fulfilling the needs of the industry and workforce. <br>
