SOLIDWORKS Program Description |
Carroll Community College (CCC) is proposing a 19 credit, Lower Division Certificate (L.D.C.) degree in SOLIDWORKS. The purpose of the certificate in SOLIDWORKS program is to teach individuals how to use contemporary manufacturing tools and thinking for “traditional” applications like transitioning manufacturing skillsets to advanced manufacturing processes. It also gives individuals the knowledge of how to apply this technology into a diverse range of disciplines. This program is unique in that it will teach people to leverage contemporary fabrication tools, coupled with design-thinking and problem solving, to solve not only manufacturing problems, but the world’s problems. Specifically, this program will focus on the teaching of design-object literacy (Product & Industrial Design), digital manufacturing and design problem solving strategies for additive and subtractive manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and digital fabrication and advanced manufacturing technology/tools training.

The proposed degree and certificate programs will be the only program in the State of Maryland with a unique focus on design and conceptual problem solving instead of manufacturing. Carroll Community College is seeking Statewide Program Designation for this program.
|
